About UCRFEG

There are 14 Regional Fisheries Enhancement Groups in the state, all but three in Western Washington, two others headquartered in Yakima and Walla Walla and our own group, Upper Columbia RFEG which covers the Columbia and it's tributaries from Rock Island Dam up to and including the San Poil River.. There is funding available for projects such as stream restoration and educational efforts conducted by RFEGs but even more important is their role in supporting local landowner groups and assisting them to find funding.

RFEGs are locally administered and projects are those determined by the local board. A basic tenet is that the groups should be broadly based both geographically and and in terms of the people involved. Stream restoration projects such as those on Hancock Creek and Aeneas Creek are typical of UCRFEG activities. Our projects come from landowners who seek our assistance in identification, design and implementation as well as access to funding.
