Aeneas Creek:
|
Before & After
|
 |
|
 |
| The possibility of a project on Aeneas Creek, which meets
the Okanogan just south of Tonasket, first came to our attention when one
of the landowners, Walt Jones called us. There was an unfinished fencing
project and barriers to remove. The landowners were anxious to complete
the project. After a site visit we decided to proceed with the project as
outlined in the documents linked above.
Aeneas Creek is unique in several ways. Most importantly for fish, it
is very cold - more than 20 degrees colder than the river during the hot
months. The plume of cold water and the lower reaches of the stream
provide a refuge for fish migrating up the Okanogan. All landowners are
cooperative and the primary landowner is a family trust with an interest
in restoration.
